Leadership

Jimmy Heinz's career has influenced the entire ecosystem that IronStack Technology Group serves. As a successful Portfolio Manager at Gelber Group for nearly a decade, he was not only an active user but also a strong advocate for adopting new technologies. This role set the stage for his subsequent impact at CME Group, where he pioneered the monetization of CME Data. Here, he successfully generated new revenue streams and oversaw the growth of over 1,000 global accounts.

At Beacon Platform, Jimmy's strategic role involved managing all vendor relationships and acting as a vital link between the Lead Engineering team and the rest of the firm, driving forward cloud alliances and strategic partnerships. His efforts further established his reputation as a leader profoundly knowledgeable about technology trends, capital markets, and the data ecosystem. Known for his client-first approach, Jimmy has consistently been praised for his ability to forge strong relationships and advance projects with optimism and innovation.

Jimmy Heinz is a distinguished alumnus of Cornell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, was named to the Dean's List, served as Vice President of the Cornell Red Key Society, and was recognized as an ESPN Academic All-American and Captain of the Cornell Baseball team.

Committed to continuous learning, he has furthered his expertise with a Professional Certification in Data Science and Visualization from Northwestern University (2020) and holds advanced certifications in Time Series Modeling and Machine Learning Essentials from DataRobot (2018). He is also a Certified Generative AI Specialist (CGAI) through the Chartered Institute of Professional Certifications.

Matt Scanlan

Board Member

Matt Scanlan has been an Operating Executive at Golden Gate Capital, LLC in  San Francisco since 2015. He focuses on private equity investment  opportunities in the financial services sector, and has more than 40 years of  experience in the investment management industry. 

He previously served as CEO and Chief Investment Officer of RS Investments (Robertson Stephens) in San Francisco, and prior to that, as President and  CEO of the institutional business for Renaissance Technologies in New York  City. He was also CEO of Barclays Global Investors’ Institutional Business in  San Francisco.  

Matt is a CFA charterholder and served on the Board of Governors of the  CFA Institute, and currently serves on the Board of the USC Marshall School  of Business, as well as President of the Board of Trustees of the Mechanics  Institute in San Francisco. He serves on the corporate boards of Adams  Street Partners in Chicago, Kennedy Capital Management in St. Louis, as well  as the Exos Financial Group in New York. He has been widely published in  practitioner journals, was given the Jacobs Levy Award for Best Article in  2006 in the Journal of Portfolio Management, and is also a recipient of the C.  Stewart Sheppard Award for academic contributions to the CFA Curriculum.  Matt received his master’s degree in accounting and finance from the J.L.  Kellogg School at Northwestern University and his B.S. from the University of  Southern California. 

Kristin Wiechmann

Board Member

Kristin Wiechmann has been at Google since 2006 and currently oversees Google’s cross-company relationships with global telecommunications companies. Prior to that, she held various roles developing innovative advertising solutions across TV, video, and mobile to drive revenue growth for publishers. Kristin has also worked at AOL and The Atlantic magazine.

She holds a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business. Her unique perspective on corporate development, cross-vendor relationships, and leadership in major tech companies makes her a vital part of IronStack's Executive Advisory Board.

Ryan Long

Board Member

Ryan Long brings more than 20 years of experience developing custom and commodity solutions for some of the world's premier trading firms. He was the Head of Laboratory at Citadel Securities/CSLabs in Chicago, where he led the initiative to build a world-class, global team dedicated to massively distributed and latency-sensitive modern data systems, workflow automation, development best practices, hardware/software integration, and hybrid computing.

Before his tenure at Citadel Securities Labs, Ryan served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at MEMX and 3Red Trading. He was also the Head of Semi-Systematic Trading Technology at Citadel Securities. His roles have consistently involved overseeing the development and integration of cutting-edge technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency and optimize trading strategies.

Ryan holds a Master of Science (MS) and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa. His extensive experience and strategic leadership in technology integration have significantly contributed to the growth and success of the organizations he has been a part of, making him a pivotal figure in the technology and capital markets industry.

Drew Myers

Board Member

Drew Myers is the founder of Banyan, headquartered in Seattle. Myers is not your typical headhunter. He eschews the conventional locations of New York, London, the Bay Area, and Chicago, choosing instead to base his operations in Seattle.

He began his career in quant recruiting in the late '90s but has since evolved beyond traditional executive search. Today, Banyan manages a fund of funds, where Myers leverages his extensive network to identify and nurture talented portfolio managers and quantitative investment professionals. He helps these professionals raise capital and build their teams, with Banyan also making direct investments in their ventures.

Notably, Banyan was an early backer of Teza Technologies, the proprietary trading fund founded in 2009 by astrophysicist and ex-Citadel trader Misha Malyshev. Myers also played a crucial role in the formation of Tower Research's Latour Trading subsidiary, assembling a team from Société Générale and BNP in 2009. In 2014, Banyan made a strategic early investment in Robinhood, which has since become a major player in the retail-trading platform space.
